    Overview

Thistle BoardFinish is a gypsum finish plaster for use on low suction backgrounds. It provides a smooth, inert, high quality surface to internal walls and ceilings, and a durable base for the application of decorative finishes. Thistle BoardFinish is a retarded hemihydrate, pre-mixed gypsum plaster, requiring only the addition of clean water to prepare it for use.

    Performance

Fire resistance: Gypsum plasters provide good fire protection due to the unique behaviour of gypsum in fire.

    Thermal resistance

It should be assumed that Thistle BoardFinish makes a negligible contribution to thermal resistance of building elements.

Effect of condensation and other moisture

Thistle Tough Coat should be protected from continuous exposure to moisture. Prolonged or repeated exposure to moisture may cause a loss of strength and/or adhesion.

    FAQS

Can you skim an MR grade board?

Yes, however the board usually needs to be primed with Thistle Bond-it.

What is the minimum temperature that Thistle plaster can be used at?

We recommend 2°C (5°C for ThistlePro DuraFinish and Thistle DriCoat) as the minimum working temperature in which plaster should be applied. It is important that the temperature does not drop below 0°C during application or in the setting and drying phase.

    What thicknesses are plasters applied?

Undercoat plasters are usually 11mm and most finish coat plasters are 2mm thick.
