Product Description

Speedline RB565 Metal Resilient Bar

Speedline RB565 Metal Resilient Bar

The sound insulation performance of some ceiling systems is dependent upon the attachment of a Resilient Bar RB565 to the underside of the joists and perimeter noggins on all four sides of room.

RB565 Metal Resilient Bar is a thin metal channel designed to substantially improve the sound insulation of plasterboard walls and ceilings. The channel effectively isolates the plasterboard from the studwork, eliminating 'direct contact' to dissipate sound which would normally be transferred through the frame. This system is easy to install and produces excellent results especially when used with suspended high mass ceilings.

Ceilings

Resilient bar RB565 is fixed at right angles to the joists at maximum 450mm centres for single or double board applications. Bars are joined by butting together under the timber joist. Plasterboards are fixed with long edges at right angles to resilient bars at 230mm centres using drywall self tapping screws which should penetrate the resilient bar by a minimum of 10mm.

To ensure maximum sound insulation performance, screws fixing the plasterboard must not be in contact with the joists. When installing double layers of plasterboard, all joints in the second layer must be staggered in relation to those of the first layer.

The addition of glass mineral wool insulation within the floor cavity will improve the acoustic performance.

the plasterboard must not be in contact with the joists. When installing a dual layer of boards, all joints in the second layer must be staggered in relation to those of the first layer.
